Ketai ( wild yam)

Wood-fired stoneware, 2012

Artwork story: Ketai is a very busy woman; she always goes into the bush looking for wild yam to feed her family because her family loves to have yam for kaikai. Ketai carries her bozepei (coconut frond basket) with her to the gardens or wherever she goes in the bush and fills it with wild yams and brings it home for her family. We call her Ketai because it is our language for the wild yam.
